LOAN OPENER

As a Mortgage Loan Opener, you will play a crucial role in the mortgage application process by ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the initial data input for loan applications. You will also be responsible for requesting necessary documents and initiating the steps required to move the application forward. This position involves close collaboration with customers, loan officers, loan processors, and underwriters, as well as handling various administrative tasks to support the overall office workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Management: Accurately input and finalize data required to open mortgage loan applications, ensuring all necessary information is complete and compliant with company standards.
  • Document Procurement: Coordinate with clients, realtors, builders, and business partners to request and obtain essential documentation for loan applications.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a key point of contact, providing consistent, professional communication with clients and partners to facilitate the loan process.
  • Automated Underwriting System (AUS) Submission: Submit loan applications through AUS systems to assess eligibility and qualifications.
  • Quality Control: Conduct comprehensive quality checks of submitted loan files, ensuring all documents and data meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Administrative Support: Perform general office administration tasks, including managing files, organizing correspondence, scheduling meetings, handling phone inquiries, as well as filing, scanning, and maintaining office supplies and equipment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with loan officers, processors, and underwriters to address any issues and maintain a seamless workflow.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management, contributing to the overall efficiency of the department.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with loan origination software, such as Ellie Mae Encompass or similar platforms.
  • Mortgage Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and government lending programs is advantageous.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and professionally with both internal and external stakeholders across various departments and locations.
  • Educational Background: An associate’s degree or equivalent experience in the mortgage industry is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2+ years of experience in file opening, loan processing, or office administration within the mortgage or financial services industry is preferred.
  • Professional Demeanor: A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach are essential.
